In ancient mythologies that span the globe from Asia to the Americas, the bear has been emblematic of wisdom, strength, courage, nobility, and confidence - all qualities we admire. For many Native American tribes, the bear spirit also represents the importance of quiet time, rest, and the bonds of family. We think bears are simply beautiful, and we feel a certain kinship with their huge appetites and inclination to "sleep in" during the colder months. Sadly, many bear populations are endangered due to unchecked human development and global climate change. The iconic American Grizzly bears of the Pacific Coast are particularly threatened.10% of the proceeds from this shirt will go to the Conservation Northwest Grizzly Bear Program, which has worked to protect and recover Grizzly bears across the Canadian border and in Washington state since 1989. Our friend, the artist Asher Wood, created this bear illustration for our 2017-2018 t-shirt, and we hope you love it as much as we do!
